Best of 2016 Blogs from Sicilian Tea Co.

2016 zipped by!

Thanks for letting me into your life this year. I appreciate you reading my musings and tea teachings.

Here’s a recap some of my favorite and/or most popular blogs this year. They’re starting points to get your 2017 started right.

How did I rank them? They’re blogs that may have had the most clicks, more likes on social media, or ones people talked to me about on or offline.

Let me know what your vote is for Best of 2016 in the comments below.

Here are the top 5 of 2016

5. Time Tweaks for Busy Peeps

The heart of it:

Feel like you’re rushing through your day? Like you don’t have enough hours to get things done each day? Read these 5 time tips to become more productive and do the things you want to do most.

Why’d it make the Best of 2016 list:

If there’s a single person on the planet who said they didn’t have enough time to get done what they wanted to get done, I’d be shocked. This is an issue that affects you, me, and almost everyone else. This blog answers the question: why do some people seem to get so much done despite the fact that we each have 24 hours in the day?

4. Six Sneaky Things Keeping You Up at Night

The heart of it:

Sleep is essential for peak performance. If you’re not getting 8 hours of sleep, you’re cheating yourself. I know, I know, “but I can get away with 6 hours of sleep.”

“Getting away with” and feeling truly healthy are two different things. If you feel like you’re 100% and you don’t need anything to be better, great! If you’d like to give better (and longer) sleep a try, then find out if you’re cheating yourself with these 6 sneaky things that may be keeping you up at night.

Why’d it make the Best of 2016 list:

This blog has info that was a game-changer for me, and I hope it does for you too. I saw myself doing several of these activities before bed. When I stopped doing them, I noticed an improvement; I didn’t wake up in the middle of the night as often, and I was able to fall asleep faster.

3. Are You Relaxing Right?

The heart of it:

We’re in a state of perpetual busyness. When was the last time you took time to do “nothing?” Read this to learn how create a personalized ritual to unplug. 10 minutes a day using these 3 tips will do wonders to help you relax.

Why’d it make the Best of 2016 list:

Just about everyone I talk to doesn’t take enough time for themselves. You’re likely in the same boat. I didn’t realize this when it was happening to me, but 6 years ago, I was in a perpetual rush. I’d wake up just in time to get what I needed done before I went to the office. Then I rushed through my day without taking a moment to myself. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer and took time off to do chemo, it was like a vacation. I needed this time out to recognize that I needed to create rituals throughout my day to relax, so I could perform in other areas of my life successfully.

2. Is Detox Tea for Real?

The heart of it:

A lot of people throw around the word “detox” when it comes to tea. I get more questions about whether it will melt away fat or cure cancer. “Not so fast,” I tell them. There may be ways to increase the health benefits, but it’s not a magic pill. Here are some ways you can make sure you’re getting all the health benefits from tea that you can.

Why’d it make the Best of 2016 list:

Some of the most frequently asked questions I get about tea are how it can improve their health. This blog explains 7 easy things you can do to ensure you’re getting all the health benefits from tea.

5. Be a Beginner. Break through that awkward stage and grow.

The heart of it:

One of the essential human needs is growth. If we don’t grow, we die.

But you probably don’t love that awkward stage where you feel you can’t do something right or that someone is judging you for sucking at something you just started. Not sure about you, but I used to feel like I had to know what I was doing before I started doing it. (Some people call is “perfection paralysis.”) Here’s how to get past it.

Why’d it make the Best of 2016 list:

I chose this post in part because it had a good response on Pinterest. It may be because everyone can relate to being new at something and wanting to get past that awkward beginner’s stage.
